The Garden in the River
Harmonie Deschamps : Vocals, Artistic Director
Pierre Cussac : Accordion, Composition, Arrangements
Damien Schoëvaërt-Brossault : Set designer
This family-friendly lyrical pop-up draws a playful dialogue between Impressionist painting and French melodies of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, arranged by accordionist Pierre Cussac, who also composed several original pieces for the project.
Colours, flavours, and timbres blend and evolve in harmony with the seasons, serendipitous encounters, and the work of Monet, whose centenary will be commemorated in 2026.
Using a giant, playful pop-up book full of surprises, created by set designer, illustrator, and scientist Damien Schoëvaërt-Brossault, the duo embarks on an exploration of a dreamlike nature, alive with a thousand lights, flavors, and scents.
With their “pocket-sized” set under one arm and an accordion on their back, the duo is ready to introduce children and their parents to these whimsical creatures and magical flowers.
Through this musical tale, they revisit the full imagination of Satie, the lyricism of Fauré, and the delicacy of Debussy in their own style—sharing it not only in concert halls, but also in schools, museums, libraries… in short, absolutely everywhere!
